Another figure drawing from last year. 60min in ink again, with a clothed model this time though. Her costume wasn't actually quite that piratey, I kinda sorta just added onto it though... Sky captain much?

Another figure drawing from last year. 20min with a regular old bic pen. They're super nifty and really neat to draw with, and super duper cheap. It's a win-win situation for an art kid. Then there are some simple little five minute gestures, also in ink.

Yeah, so, unfortunately I've been a terrible blogger and haven't really done much with this page in the past two years or so. Which is a terrible shame, and I plan to remedy this. I am now going into my junior year at Ringling College of Art and Design as an illustration major, and I have a lot of stuff to show from the past two years, and hopefully even more from this oncoming year. So be prepared for a bunch of posts showcasing some stuff from the past few months, and then I'll start getting into what I'm working on right now. Sound good? Good!

I'll just start off by tossing out some figure gestures and drawings from last year. The first one is done with white conte crayon on gray scale paper. Annndd, GO.

Whoo!

So yeah, first update in a long while. Sorry for the lack of arts, I actually have several that I just haven't managed to photograph due to having to buy a new camera, then never managing to get around to it. So what I'm updating this with at the moment is a WIP shot of a photoshop painting I'm working on at the moment :]




A friend and I are designing two new characters, based on the His Dark Materials trilogy(Better known for including the Golden Compass book). The basic idea of it, for those who haven't heard of it or read it, is the people in the world of the main character, Lyra, have an animal companion with them, otherwise known as a daemon. It is basically an embodiment of their personality(Think mind, body, heart sort of trio thing). So like a servant would have a dog, because they like to obey. And so on.

My character is named Elise, and she is a Gyptian married to a British man named Owen(My friend's character.) Her daemon is a black-backed jackal named Cassian, and Owen's is a common parakeet named Elarana.

New Clothing Line?

New clothing line in the making? Mebbe. Not likely. But certainly easier to buy a $6 t-shirt and customize it then a simply designed $26 t-shirt


A shirt I got from the school store. There's a store that has alot of t-shirts I like, but I don't feel like paying over $20 for something I can do myself. So, the panda actually isn't my design, it's the design on one of the store shirts. But it's for me, so oh well


This is the left sleeve of my Ringling sweatshirt. For an art school, they have really boring sweatshirts, but I suppose there's a reason for that since it's a bunch of artists. So I drew a chinese dragon, and the symbol at the bottom is the chinese character for dragon. I'm gonna be doing a chinese phoenix on the other sleeve


I've actually started another painting, but the picture I took of the sketch kinda sort've sucks. Big time. No amount of photo-shopping could get it to look right, so apologies.

"Enchantment"

Yeah. So. Crappy title, but I honestly couldn't think of anything that would work. There was almost no concept at all behind this painting. I did the concept sketch for it back in july, but it took till maybe a month or so ago for me to actually start on the painting. Sorry there aren't any progress shots, kept forgetting to take them.

I really like how this one came out. Granted, doing the vines on the wall was a complete pain in the butt, but still.

Watercolors again.

Midsummer Night's Dream

Sorry it took so long, finished the painting a long while ago, actually.

But yeah, Midsummer Night's Dream. A whole lot darker then the last shot; it was mad bright before, and not in the way I wanted. My teacher suggested making everything darker, so it looked like evening as I originally wanted. It doesn't have quite the "dreamy" quality I wanted, but eh, it's good enough.

As for their facelessness, uhh, I forgot....? Can I pretend that's an excuse?
